Kevin M. Poe P.E.
Kevin M. Poe graduated from the University of Memphis in May of 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He began working for Williams & Schneider Structural Engineering, Inc., San Antonio, Texas in December of that same year. He designed warehouses, shopping malls, apartment buildings, and building renovations and gained experience with steel design, reinforcement concrete, and wood construction. Kevin worked with Williams and Schneider until January 1980.
In 1980, Kevin began working for Memphis Light, Gas and Water, Memphis, Tennessee, as a design engineer. He gained experience in all phases of water distribution, as well as the design of water mains, booster pumps, wells, and construction standards. He significantly contributed to the master water planning and system improvements at Light, Gas & Water. While at Light, Gas & Water, he obtained his Professional Engineer’s license in 1987 and eventually became supervisor of water engineering. He retired after 25 years of service in May 2005.
From 1995 to 2003, Kevin worked as a consultant for Foundation Engineering Management, Inc., Memphis, Tennessee. He designed reinforced concrete foundations and wood frame construction. He also did foundation inspections, foundation failure investigations, and both residential and commercial structural inspections.
Kevin is the owner of Poe Engineering, Inc., Walnut, Mississippi, which he began in 2004. In 2014, Kevin opened a second office in Memphis, Tennessee. Kevin designs reinforced concrete foundations, wood and steel framing, does foundation inspections, foundation failure investigations, and residential and commercial structural inspections.
Kevin is a Registered Professional Engineer in Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Alabama.
Luke R. Poe P.E.
Luke graduated from The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 2010 with a degree in Civil Engineering. After graduation, he was employed by the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department where he performed bridge and highway inspections as a Field Engineer to track the progress of the jobs under his supervision.
In 2014, Luke relocated to Memphis to take his current position with Poe Engineering as a Structural Engineer. He received his Professional Engineer License in the field of Structural Engineering in 2015. He is currently the Engineering Manager of the Memphis Office.
Rhett Hensley, Structural Design Engineer
Rhett graduated from Mississippi State University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Prior to graduating from Mississippi State, Rhett was employed by Hensley Land Surveying where he helped perform boundary surveys and construction layout surveys.
He also interned for Poe Engineering during the summer of 2020 and decided to join them full-time after graduation as a Structural Design Engineer. In his free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors hunting and fishing near his home in Mississippi.
Gray Cordes, Structural Design Engineer
Gray Graduated from Mississippi State University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil
Engineering. Prior to graduating from Mississippi State, Gray was a student co-op with the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers ERDC in Vicksburg, MS where he grew up. After graduation, Gray worked for the
Tennessee Department of Transportation as a civil engineer where he performed bridge inspections.
Gray joined Poe Engineering Inc. in February of 2022 as a Structural Design Engineer. In his free time, he enjoys anything to do with Mississippi State athletics (Especially Baseball). Hunting, fishing, and traveling with his wife are also some of his favorite hobbies.
Melvin Portillo, Structural Design Engineer
Melvin graduated from Christian Brothers University in 2020 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Civil Engineering. After graduation, Melvin worked for Curb and Gutter Pros as an estimator in Jesup, Georgia. After that, Melvin returned to Memphis to work as a design engineer for Arcosa-Meyer Utility Structures designing steel utility poles.
Melvin joined Poe Engineering Inc. in July of 2023 as a Structural Design Engineer. In his free time, he enjoys working on his 1979 Mazda RX7 project car and photography.
Kevin Sieb, Structural Design Engineer
Kevin graduated from University of Memphis in December 2023. During the summer of 2022, Kevin was an intern at the Arkansas Department of Transportation. From 2022 - 2023, he also was Team Manager for the University of Memphis Men's Soccer Team.
Kevin was an intern for Poe Engineering during the summer of 2023 and decided to join them full-time after graduation as a Field/Design Engineer. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer and exploring new adventures in Memphis and the surrounding Tennessee and Mississippi area.
Michael Lacy, Field Inspector
Mike attended Oklahoma State University and the University of Memphis.
His career began in 1981, working for J.W.S.A. Architects. His responsibilities included design, production of construction documents, specifications, and construction administration.
After that, Mike worked as Project Manager for Webb Building Corporation. Responsibilities included construction administration and coordination of onsite field operations for various commercial projects.
Mike also worked as Field Inspector for Foundation Engineering Management. His responsibilities there included field verification and inspection related to the installation of commercial and residential foundations.
Mike has worked as Field Inspector for Poe Engineering for 10 years. Most of his time is spent field verifying and inspecting commercial and residential foundation installations.
Vicki Poe, Office Manager
Vicki is the Office Manager for Poe Engineering. She handles phone calls, billing, collections, and taking care of the office systems.
Vicki’s past experience includes 15 years with McDonald’s Corporation. She worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Real Estate and Construction Departments. Vicki was eventually promoted to Office Supervisor, where she served as Administrative Secretary to the regional vice-president, supervised five office personnel, and took care of managing the office facility. Vicki also worked four years in Retail Management and 10 years in Hospitality Management. While in Hospitality Management, Vicki enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada.
Rachel Cove, Administrative Assistant
Rachel is the Administrative Assistant for Poe Engineering. She handles phone calls, scheduling, billing and collections.
Before becoming a part of the Poe Engineering team, Rachel was a board-certified pharmacy technician for 14 years. While working at pharmacy by day she also renovated her first house alongside her father at night. Rachel’s love for construction and experience stems from her family’s knowledge and helps her be a perfect fit for Poe Engineering. With experience in industrial maintenance, sheet metal work and interior design, Rachel has done it all! In her free time, Rachel likes to kayak, hike and take day trips around the area with her husband, Tim, and her two teenagers, Peter and Cameron.
Pam Tyler, Administrative Assistant
Pam has been with Poe Engineering for over 10 years. Pam takes care of the bookkeeping, accounts payable, payroll and benefits administration, and insurance and tax administration.
Pam earned her Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) rating in 1999 and recertified in 2005, 2010, and 2015. Pam also holds an Associate of Arts in Business Administration, Bachelor of Arts in Social Science, and Masters of Education along with IC3 certification. Pam’s experience includes administrative staff supervision and training, office processes and procedure documentation, project coordinator, due date monitoring, professional state licensing, PDH or CPE monitoring, client contact date management, meeting/conference planning, and bookkeeping services.
Pam resides in Walnut, MS and is actively involved with her local school, community and church.
